Every seller writes "handmade." Few can tell you whose hands. On an authentic Romanian blouse — the ie — hand-sewing is not a marketing word; it is a set of techniques you can see, feel and verify.
What hand-sewing looks like on an ie, Romanian Blouse
A true ie is embroidered stitch by stitch on woven cloth, without a machine. Turn the piece inside out: the reverse of hand embroidery is tidy but never mechanically identical, and the thread tension varies with the maker's hand. The neckline is gathered by hand into fine folds, and the seams are often closed with bibiluri, a needle-lace edging worked entirely with a needle and thread.

The fabric comes first
Before a single motif is stitched, the cloth is woven — historically from hemp, linen, cotton or borangic (wild silk). The weight and weave of that base cloth tell you whether you are holding a garment made to last generations or a printed imitation.
A name, not a label
Our moat is simple: we can name the maker. Pieces come from the Breaza handicraft cooperative and from master embroiderer Gheorghe Ciuncanu, each accompanied by a certificate of provenance.
