Necklace made of pearlescent beads, adorned with authentic coins from the Austro-Hungarian Empire and Poland. It is a perfect blend of folk heritage and contemporary luxury — taking a traditional Romanian amulet concept (zgardă) and translating it into a refined, timeless heirloom.

The light-coloured beads softly reflect light, creating a gentle glow that highlights the antique silver coins. This piece combines history with elegance — traditional motifs presented in a modern, refined form.

Each coin is a genuine historical artifact, giving the necklace not only decorative appeal but also cultural significance.

In traditional rural society, coins worn as jewellery served as a direct display of a family's financial standing and the young woman's dowry.

  • Gold or silver coins indicated prosperity.

  • Wearing a specific number of coins — such as five — showed that the family was well-off enough to spare real currency for adornment.

The number 5 represents balance, vitality, and protection (associated with the five senses and the five fingers of a hand, symbolising human capability and strength).

Having five coins provided a centred, symmetrical look — usually with one prominent centre coin flanked by two on each side — symbolising harmony and completeness.
